Studying with Disabilities and Chronic Illnesses
Around 11% of all students in Germany [best2 [4]] have impairments and it is often not easy to talk about your own impairment and confide in others. Some students choose not to make use of their legal right to academic adjustment (see Section 40 AllgStuPO [5]) for personal reasons, such as fear of discrimination, thus jeopardizing a successful outcome to their studies. Difficulties while studying due to impairments can, however, be avoided through various support options.
