What special services does the TU Berlin offer students with disabilities and chronic illnesses?
As all Berlin universities, according to the Berlin Higher Education Act the TU Berlin is required to integrate disabled and chronically ill students and to enable them equal opportunities in their studies.
Many structural aids are offered for this:
- Comprehensive counseling before and during studies.
- For hearing impaired students, there are microphone systems and reserved seats in some lecture halls.
- All study and examination regulations include the right to compensate for disadvantages in your studies, internships, and examinations.
- Half of all TUB buildings are largely handicapped accessible
In addition to these structural aids, students with disabilities and chronic illnesses can receive individual assistance - technical aids or study assistance. The Berlin universities, the Senate Administration, and the studierendenWERK Berlin have agreements on this topic. Individual integration aids can be requested from studierendenWERK Berlin.
Much has already been done - there’s still a lot left to do.
