To apply and starting your studies

It isn’t always easy to choose a degree program that matches your preferences and interests. Different advising services can help you with your decision: 

• Academic Advising Service: You can find an overview to the Academic Advising Service’s individual and group offers under the following link https://www.tu.berlin/en/go176/
• In addition to advisory services, there is also a Virtual Infothek with videos and podcast episodes to get to know the TU degree programs. The conversations are in German and there is an English transcript for each episode.
• Course Guidance: Students are happy to share their knowledge about degree schedules, study content, and curricula for subjects you are considering. You can find contact information and office hours in the relevant degree program overview.

Feeling comfortable in the city, at the University, and at your faculty, is important. It is best to come by and get an idea for yourself. We are happy to assist you when looking around campus. We take you around the University, showing you, for instance, the shortest paths, reserved seats in lecture halls, and handicap accessible toilets.

When applying for a bachelor’s program:

• Application for improvement of grade point average
• Application for adjustment due to delayed university entrance qualification 
• Application for consideration due to exceptional circumstances

When applying for a master’s program:

• Application for consideration due to exceptional circumstances

Regardless of your nationality, as an applicant with an international university entrance qualification you must apply via uni-assist. The following applies to applications for a Bachelor's degree:

• nationals of the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway (Applicant group E) can claim special requirements and/or make supplemental applications. This is only possible if these are submitted together with your application to uni-assist by the deadline and in due form. 
• nationals of countries other than the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway and stateless persons (Applicant group C) cannot submit a supplemental application. There is already an advance quota for them.

Detailed information on supplemental applications (form, procedure, etc.) can be found on the website of the Office of Stiudent Affairs. Please note the relevant deadlines and application dates.

StudierendenWERK BERLIN gives priority to students with a disability or chronic illness when allocating rooms in its dormitories. You must have been admitted or already be enrolled at a Berlin institution of higher education to apply for a room. Applications must be submitted online using the studierendenWERK BERLIN dormitory portal. You can find additional information about renting an accessible apartment on studierendenWERK Berlin’s web page “Barrier-free housing”.

The InfoCenter studi@home can provide advice to applicants and students on all questions concerning housing.

On the studierendenWERK BERLIN’s “Housing” website, you will find a list with links to other apartment providers in Berlin.

If you are searching for social housing, you must have a Wohnberechtigungsschein (WBS) certifying your eligibility for such housing. You can request this certificate from the housing office of the borough you live in. You can also be issued a WBS with the additional note “Rollstuhlbenutzerwohnung” (RB), or “apartment for wheelchair users”.

The project Mobidat team has spent decades dedicated to accessible life in Berlin. It offers information as well as a special database for wheelchair users looking for an apartment. The database includes accesible apartments throughout Berlin. If interested, please contact the apartment provider or rental agency.
