Individual support for studies (integration support)
the Berlin universities as well as prospective students can apply for
integration assistance according to § 9 Abs 2 Berliner
Hochschulgesetz at the StudierendenWERK. Responsible for the TU is
Beatrix Gomm. She advises and helps with the formulation of the
application. Inclusion assistance is training-related support, such as
technical devices and assistants; it does not include support for
living, medical care or nursing.
Technical assistant devices can be: Dictation machines or special keyboards for students with impaired vision, Braille keyboard for students with impaired vision, special microport systems for hearing impaired students. The application should describe in detail why the resource is needed to compensate for disability-related abilities.
Study assistance can be applied for if technical assistant devices are not sufficient and personal assistance is required as support in lectures, seminars, projects and practical training/internships. It has proved to be particularly effective if the study assistant comes from the applicant's course of study, i.e. if a mathematics student finds a fellow student as an assistant. For hearing-impaired students or for students with writing disabilities, assistants prepare transcripts and support the preparation and follow-up of the material. A sign language interpreter is recommended for hearing impaired students .
The application for integration assistance must contain a list of activities and courses for which assistance is required. A semester schedule must be attached. The further approval of study assistance is linked to proof of study success. You must submit proof of academic achievement to the StudierendenWERK.
